Black 13

Dress, Nasty Gal. Shoes, Zara. Bracelet, JCrew.
I'm kind of sick and really tired and I don't feel ready for the new year to be today,  especially with those ominous numbers 13. But hey, time won't stop for me so I might as look ready so then maybe I'll feel it.

Yuck, I look sickly and my makeup isn't quite right but lets try to focus on the positive. Look at those beautiful cold shoulder sleeves!

I had a new cliched crunchy glitter dress for New Years but it wasn't hanging right so I went to this old favorite of mine to wear tonight. These heels are one of my faves too, purchased in Vienna they have seen me through a lot of night time adventures.

Time to rally, have a happy and safe new years everyone!

Cold on the Street

Coat, Asos. Glasses, Tom Ford. Dress, Romwe. Bralette, Aritzia. Pants, Anthropologie. Necklace and bangles, India (the country). Shoes, Gap.
It's been like a week of rain and today it was finally sunny. As a Californian and a spoilt brat, I get tired of below 60 degree weather really easily so today I was ready to cut loose a little and pull out that mellow west coast look. Except it was freezing even though the day was bright and shiny.
This atomic bomb dress is one of my favorites and a constant in my daily dress, I tucked it into my pants to make it a shirt today.

So excited about these hippie dippy pants.

My new Christmas fur I can't get enough of and wear with every outfit even though if it doesn't go.

My always present entourage members, the sweet Davis and the unseen Ishi M. who is my stellar photographer. Both have been amazingly supportive friends in this blogging endeavor and I appreciate them everyday more and more.

Mishka Love

I have a lot of love for the brand Mishka, I've been a big geeky groupie when Karmaloop started carrying them in 2005. It's been 7 years and I can honestly say they are the only brand I can name consistently as one of my favorites. I have major respect for the way they run their clothing+musical empire and the way they respond to their consumers. Also their logo is an eyeball which I'm so down with. One of my photos from the apocalypse shoot made it on to their tumblr which accepts Mishka groupie pictures.
I highly recommend checking out the MИWKA Tumblr if you want to see cool kids in cooler clothes or the MishkaNYC Site for the comprehensive rap and hip hop knowledge you always wanted.

Christmas Eyes

All my presents and the people who gave them have been cherished today but one from a friend with a beautiful soul stood out. She knows my love of eyes so well she started on this present way before this blog was born. She left me with this quote on the backing of my eye collage:
"There is a community of the spirit,
Join it, and feel the delight
Of walking in the noisy street
And being the noise.
Drink all your passion,
And be a disgrace.
Close both eyes- to see with the other eye."
-Rumi

Christmas is a time of joy and wonder and we should use these as screens in which to view the world with always. I hope today you close your external eyes and see the world and the one's you love most with your inner eye. Whatever you celebrate, I hope you find happiness in today and look to the world with Christmas Eyes.

Big View

Sunglasses, AJ Morgan. Jacket, Obey. Blouse, Zara. Pants, Uniqlo. Shoes, Zara.
Sometimes, there's not a lot to say but you just want to share your view.

Sweater, H&M. Scarf, JCrew. Shirt, Hanes. Moccasins, Steve Madden.

Bay Bridge View in Berkeley, CA

The Last Outfit, Of Today

Jacket, ONLY. Shirt, Daydreamer LA. Leggings, Mishka. Rainboots, Jeffery Campbell.
This is my apocalypse outfit. The best pictures are accidental,  I was pulling on my jacket and this was my favorite picture in the end because you can see the rain.

Big hood to hide in, so I don't have to see the massacres. I don't like scary things.

These eyeball leggings are to protect me from the evil eye and are easy to run in. Also they are just my favorite piece of clothing ever and I would definitely want to die in them.

 More evil eye protection.

Mexican Virgin Mary on my wrist and poison ring on my finger to open up if things get really bad.

I think we'll be okay though. Have a good day, apocalypse or not.

Plaid Spirit

Dress, Anthropologie. Scarf, JCrew. Rings, Mango and Unknown. Bracelet, My mom's from India.
I felt a little bit like a spirit in the night while taking these photos. It was quiet and gloomy and we kept hearing sounds around us.

My belt is just a standard scarf I wrapped obi-like around me. I don't usually get too into Christmas because I'm not the biggest fan of winter, but this year I feel the cheer in me! I hope you're all having a wonderful holiday season whatever you find in your life to celebrate.

Pre-Fall 2013: Tomboy Edition

Personally, I think it's a little bit ridiculous that pre-season collections exist because what does that mean for where designers will draw the line. Pre-pre-seasons, post-pre-seasons? A collection for every week? Anyways with that being said, it doesn't mean I don't appreciate the great things coming out of Pre-Fall 2013. I can't put all of what I like in a big lump so here's what I'm excited about in menswear silhouettes for women:

BOY. by Band of Outsiders Pre-Fall 2013.
I love the boy monogram sweater and the layering of their reproduced wool coat over the shorts suit.

3.1 Phillip Lim Pre-Fall 2013.
I feel like Phillip Lim is in such an solid stride right now, the corded detailing on the pants on the left is just perfect and I'm so into the bird motif repeated throughout this collection.

Alexander Wang Pre-Fall 2013.
A. Wang is on a fast track towards becoming a fashion revolutionary, especially since his recent hire as the creative director of Balenciaga. Even in his clean lines it is clear that he has an eye for the small details that make haute couture what is is. Can't say though that I love the way he chooses the makeup/hair for his models, never been a fan of greasy hair and pale face but I know it's a certain aesthetic people get into. I do love the straight structuring on this new backpack of his.
Moschino Cheap & Chic Pre-Fall 2013.
I know this isn't anything revolutionary but I just like Moschino's sugary golden sweetness. They've got the cut of their clothes down so well too.

Alice+Olivia Pre-Fall 2013.
This pre-fall collection of Alice+Olivia is BANANAS. It's a seriously crazy good combination of clothes, makeup, hair, and styling. Just very on point.

Givenchy Men's Pre-Fall 2013
Yes, this is actually menswear not menswear inspired but I'm not doing a men's post and I loved this collection like crazy. Givenchy went hard last year and delivered some good stuff again this year. And I don't care if it's men's, if I could get this in my closet I would wear all of their pieces from this pre-season.

Downtown, For the Evening

Hat, Goorin Brotthers. Jacket, Kenneth Cole. Scarf, India (The country). Sweater, Anthropologie. Skirt, Talula by Aritzia. Tights, Calvin Klein.
Boots, BC Footwear. Glasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs.
One of my unofficial big sisters, Teji, and I had one of our dates last night in downtown SF. We keep trying to have a photo/styling session but we end up getting sidetracked and having too many cuddles and mouse noises to focus. So she ended up just taking some quick ones of my outfit. I didn't mean to look like a hipster cliche but oh well nobody noticed in downtown.

 Yerba Buena Gardens at night.

My babyface bhen (means sister in Gujarati) trying my glasses on, you'll never meet another with a softer face than hers. I walked into her room, zoomed in on the awesome hat on her dresser, and wore it all day long. Here she tried to steal it back, only for a minute though.
Thank you Tejibhen for taking the pictures of me.
I'm still new at this blogging thing and today it felt a little frivolous posting this after all the tragedies of this week. All my thoughts are with the wounded of this world, I hope for healing and peace for all these people in the new year to come. I know it is too soon for those hurt but here is the wonderful story of two men who healed from an alike event in their lives and started The Forgiveness Project.

Flannel Trees Are The Perfect Place For Shade

Went to meet some friends for brunch at a place called Harbor Cafe in Santa Cruz. I hadn't ever been there since it's pretty far out on the east side, right where we found parking we found something else that I was so excited to see.

A Flannel Tree!

Sweater, F21. Blouse and tights, H&M. Dress, Target. Glasses, Marc by Marc Jacobs.
So happy to find a flannel tree which is definitely better than a money tree and that's just how I feel.

Some gnar flannel. Definitely surfer selected.

I look so moody in this picture but really, I was just so focused on all the flannel fittings going on street side.

Santa Cruz is one of the few places I know where you regularly see "honor codes" used and people actually abide by them. That Vans box was full of money.

Cold wind and bright, diamond-sparkling water make for my favorite kind of day in my favorite place.

Zara Dec 2012 Lookbook

Zara December 2012 Lookbook.
Model: Kasia Struss
This is the only outfit of importance from their lookbook. Slim fit, chiffon, matching sets, and plaid is all I want in life.
Santa don't bother delivering this to me unless you bring me the whole comprehensive outfit.
(Their jumpsuit in this lookbook is pretty rad too but I'm trying to make a point here.)

Off Duty Chillin

Shirt, Brandy Melville. Tank, Zara Basics. Jeans, Citizens of Humanity. Shoes, Minnetonka. Bag, Anthropologie.
I started my first day of working at JCrew yesterday. While I figure my life out and keep looking for a grown-up job, I need something to do and make a little bank. Anyways, being dressed so formal and preppy made me dress ultra casual and bummy today for a date with one of my best friends. Not that there is anything wrong with dressing WASPy, I just don't wear blazers that regularly. Oh wait, yes I do so that argument is totally invalid. I guess I just felt like bumming around.

My necklace had a little Om on it too, to match my shirt, although it's hard to make out.
It was a bright day with the sun bursting through the weak clouds but it was a little windy and these branches kept whipping into my face.

So stoked about these paisley jeans! I've admired them for many months but have been unwilling to shell out for their retail price. Last week though, they were finally marked down from 218$ to 50$ and were snapped up immediately. They only had one size bigger than I am left but for this print I would have been willing to take 5 sizes bigger.

My girl, Niki. She drove straight to see me an hour after she finished her last final. We've been missing each other because she's been swamped with studying for LSATs and finals and I was so overjoyed to see her today. Expect her styled on my blog soon now that she has time.
Here's my chillin with my girl style, hope you like it.
